Sencha is Japan’s most popular green tea. Historically, it was loved by Japanese monks who revered it for its unique qualities of giving them energy and focus, whilst remaining calm and relaxed. Today, Sencha remains an integral part of daily life in Japan, not just for its cultural heritage, but also as a simple, healthful daily ritual.
Sencha is unique in that the bushes grow mostly in direct sunlight. We select only the youngest leaves in the first flush of the season. These are then flash steamed to prevent oxidisation before being rolled and dried. The resulting tea is refined, refreshing and revitalising.
